LOTD - Emerald & Mauve Eye

This was a day where I was running errands with my mom and shopping with her.  I was anxious to try some new products, so I can review them for you at the end of the month.  Would I usually wear this much makeup to run errands and shop?  Ummmm...yeah, it's pretty typical for me, though I don't do it every day.  You don't have to do all these steps to still get a great pulled together look.  I only do lashes once in awhile.  I just really wanted to try these.

Products Used:
Rimmel Fix & Perfect Primer - 001
Revlon ColorstayWhipped Foundation - Natural Tan (surprise, surprise!)
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles - Neutralizer
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - 018 Creamy Beige
NYC - Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder - Sunny
NYX Blush - Silky Rose
E.L.F. Blush - Pink Passion
Wet N Wild Coloricon Bronzer - Reserve Your Cabana (this is actually a highlighter)
Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal - 70 Barely Branded
Maybelline Eye Studio Eye Shadow Palette - Mad For Mauve
Jordana 12 Hour Made To Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil - 06 Jade Jewel
The Creme Shop Eyelashes - #46
Duo Eyelash Glue - Clear
Maybelline The Rocket Mascara - Black
Cover Girl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm - 260

I used three new products with this look....Maybelline Eye Studio Eye Shadow, Jordana Eyeliner Pencil, Cover Girl Lip Perfection, and The Creme Shop Lashes. It is probably surprising that I never tried these shadows before.  I have heard great things about them, but just hadn't for some reason.  They came out with a few limited edition fall palettes, so I couldn't resist!  I will review all my new products at the end of the month, as usual.  So, let's get into application.....First, I applied a base on my lids.  I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo.  I always use a base to set the shadow and keep it from creasing.  Next, I applied the emerald shade to the middle of my lid, using a flat eyeshadow brush.  I patted the color on instead of rubbing it across the lid.  Then, I applied the darkest purple shad to the inner and outer corners.  I then, applied the medium purple shade in the crease with a crease blush.  After that, I blended the edges with a blending brush, to get out any harsh lines.  Lastly, I applied the lightest purple to my brow bone.  I used the Jordana Eye Pencil on the top and first half of the bottom lashes.  I smudged the top line out with the emerald shadow, and the first half of the bottom lash line.  I smudged  the darkest purple on the second half of the lash line, blending the two colors where they meet.  I applied my false lashes, and once they dried, used my mascara to blend my real lashes with them.  I will do a blog post about how to apply false lashes, because it takes practice, but really isn't hard once you get the hang of it.

I did my eyes first, because I wasn't sure if there would be fall out with these shadows, and they are shimmery.  I used a cleansing cloth to wipe under my eyes and on the sides to have a straight edge to the shadow.  After my moisturizer and shadow, I applied my Revlon Colorstay with my Sigma F80 brush.  Next, was the concealer which I apply in an upside down triangle under my eyes.  I use a liberal amount.  This really highlights the center of the face.  I contoured the side of my face, applied the NYX  shadow close to the hairline and half way to the apple of the cheek.  I used the E.L.F blush on the apples.  I blended these 3 together.  Lastly I used the Wet N Wild Reserve Your Cabana highlighter on the top of the cheekbone.

For my outfit, nothing special.  I am wearing an emerald green top from Target, and wide leg jeans from Ann Taylor Loft.  It's a very simple outfit, that looks pulled together with accessories.  They make all the difference!  My necklace, I bought at ourworldboutique.com for $2.99, and the purse was half off at a store in the mall.  I don't even know the name.  My accessories in total were under $20!  If you don't have the budget for a new outfit, get a few accessories.  It will change and update your entire look.  Plus, don't forget to check out your local thrift stores!  Their are some great high end items that can be found in many of them.  Wash them up or dry clean them, and VOILA!
