Health Tip Of The Week - Making New Year's Resolutions

So, it's the first of the year, and many people like to make resolutions, only to find that within a few weeks, they give up.  They give up feeling worse then when they started.  Another year, another failure.  Whatever your resolution is, if it was easy, you would have conquered it a long time ago.  The question isn't what will your New Year's Resolution be (if you make them then you have probably been thinking about it for awhile).  The question is, how will this year be different than any other year?  What are you going to do to ensure that you will succeed?

Many people want to quit smoking, lose weight, improve their marriage, and work hard to get that promotion at work.  This isn't even ALMOST realistic!  Now, I did lose 75 pounds and quit a 10 year smoking habit at the same time, but I don't recommend that.   That has a very high failure rate.  I believe you should pick ONE goal, and break that goal down into smaller, more obtainable goals.

Many people have weight loss goals, so I'll use that as an example.  Let's say your goal is to lose 30 pounds and achieve a healthier lifestyle.  Thirty pounds is a lot of weight, and that kind of weight is not going to fall off overnight.  It may seem like a nearly impossible task, so break it down into smaller goals, and lifestyle changes.  You don't want to wake up January 1st, giving up pop, only drinking water, working out for an hour, packing a healthy lunch, snacking on apples, going to bed earlier, waking up earlier, and having a healthy meal prepared by 6pm.  All of that is overwhelming, and you would probably fail by midday.  Instead, set small weekly goals that you can build on.  Plus, focus on what you will be adding to your day, not what you will be losing.  If week one, your goal is to drink 8 glasses of water a day, focus on ONLY that goal for the week.  In order to get 8 glasses in a day, you will have to cut back on pop or sugary drinks.  Week two, add 2 healthy snacks a day, while still drinking those 8 glasses.  See where this is going?  You just start building healthy habits on top of healthy habits.  Now, I know you want to lose 30 pounds and you want to lose it as quickly as possible, but the success rate with doing that and not gaining the weight back is very slim.  Most people starve themselves, while not making any healthy habit changes, and quickly find that they gained it all back and then some.  Be patient.  Anything worth having isn't easy.  It will take time, dedication, and prioritizing your life.  Be honest with yourself.  Look at your daily habits and routine.    Start with small, obtainable goals.  Reaching those goals will give you the confidence you need to reach more goals.  And with each goal, give yourself a reward (not food)!  A day out with your best friend, date night, pedicure, or whatever you like.  It doesn't have to be fancy.  Sometimes a few hours alone to watch a movie, take a bath, and drink some hot tea is all I really want.

Set your weekly goal and weekly reward in advance.  Love yourself enough to take care of yourself.  Know this will be hard, but it will be worth it.  You can do anything you want, if you want it bad enough.  Be patient.  The results will come.

Best Of Luck
-XOXO Monique

December Purchases & Review

1.  Spoiled Nail Polish By Wet N Wild - Pick Your Poison
I used this polish in a Nails Of The Week post this month.  I use a bottom and top coat, and these last a good while for me.  I have several and have never been disappointed.  I thought this was the perfect holiday red.  You can find these at CvS.

2.  NYX Pore Filler - This was a first time purchase for me.  I apply this on my nose and cheeks, under my foundation.  I think it helps minimally, but I'm not impressed by it.  I will use it, because I hate to waste, but I won't repurchase.

3.  NYX Butter Gloss - Eclair - I have heard great things about these, and I really do like them.  They are a moisturizing gloss with soft color. They are not sticky at all, which I hate!  Eclair is a great nude gloss.  I wear these alone or over a lipstick.  I will definitely be purchasing more colors.

4.  NYX Cream Matte Lipstick - Stockholm - Matte lipsticks aren't the easiest to find, and I really like this one.  It applies as a cream, and dries to a matte finish.  This is another natural/nude color.I don't find these overly drying, but if they are for you, apply a balm before application.  I will definitely be purchasing more colors.

5.  NYX Blush - Terra Cotta
I have a few NYX blushes, and I have been happy with all of them.  This gives a natural look.  It is not bold or overdone.  I think these blushes have great pigmentation and staying power.  You can find NYX at Ulta and some Targets.

6.  The Balm Mary Lou Minizer - I love this highlighter!  I was looking all over for it, and finally found it on sale at www.hautelook.com. It is a pressed powder.  When it is applied, I don't see any glitter on my face, just a highlight and sheen.  It is quite pigmented, so use it sparingly.  It is beautiful, and I get asked about it often.

I am wearing the Mary Lou Minizer here.  I highlighted my cheekbones, chin, center of forehead, and down the middle of my nose.  You can see the nice highlighted sheen it gives, without being glittery.

7.  Irresistable Me Hair Extensions - Jet Black - This is my first extension purchase ever, so I will do a full product review on it's own.  I am wearing them in the above pic.

8.  Big Sexy Hair Dry Shampoo - I ran out of my Batiste Dry Shampoo, so I thought I would try this one.  The Big Sexy line usually has good products that I really like.  This dry shampoo is okay.  It does the job, and doesn't turn my black hair white, like many others.  It does add body as well, but it made my hair feel stiff and crunchy.  The Batiste doesn't do this to me at all, and it is about half the cost.  I will use the rest of this, but will go back to my Batiste.

9.  Estee Lauder Double Wear - Pebble - I did a full review on this foundation.  If you would like to see it, Click Here

10.  Philosophy Amazing Grace Perfume
I have been wanting this perfume for a long time, along with the Pure Grace.  I love it.  It has more of a fresh clean scent, but more sophisticated.  I think it is a great year round perfume.  I have a small bottle that I can throw in my purse in case I need a little pick me up.  I bought mine at Sephora, but I believe Ulta has them as well.

11.  Benefit's They're Real Mascara - Black - For my birthday, I receive a birthday gift from Sephora that included two Benefit products.  I have heard a lot of hype about this mascara, so I was anxious to try it.  Is it a good mascara?  Yes.  Is it better than mascaras that I love from the drugstore?  No.  I love the L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes (gold tube).  In my opinion, it is better than the They're Real Mascara, and a fraction of the price.  I also love Maybelline's The Rocket.  I would choose it over this one as well.

12.  Benefit's Watt's Up Highlighter - I received this highlighter in my birthday kit, as well.  It is a cream highlighter, that rolls up like a lipstick.  There is no shimmer, just a soft highlighting sheen.  It is easy to apply and blend out.  It is not quite as pigmented as the Mary Lou Minizer.  It provides a more subtle look.  I do like this one, but would choose the Mary Lou Minizer over it, just because subtle makeup really isn't my style.  If you prefer a more natural look, I would recommend this one.

13.  Tan Aztec Sweater - Forever 21- I love this sweater!  I have been wanting an aztec sweater for so long, but really couldn't find what I was wanting.  I wear this one often.  It is very comfortable, and when it isn't super cold, I don't need a coat.  I love pairing this with my Mukluk knit boots that I purchased last month.  If you would like to see the boots, and my review of them CLICK HERE

14.  Black and Tan Aztec Sweater - Forever 21- I found this on the same shopping trip to Forever 21. I love this one just as much as the other.  It isn't quite as heavy, and it has 3/4 sleeves.  It is warm without being too heavy.  I love it just as much as the tan one, and wear it with my Mukluks as well.  Those things get a lot of wear!!

15.  Black & White Reversible Cross Scarf - Forever 21 - I love the cross trend!  I have cross necklaces, earrings, rings, sweaters, tops, and now a scarf!  I found this for half price.  It is super long, soft, and warm.  It is also reversible, which is great.

16.  Aztec Hi/Low Top sassysteals.com - I have made a few purchases from this site.  They sell all sorts of things....jewelry, home fashions, kid's clothes, accessories, and women's clothes.  I have been happy with all my purchases, and have not had to return anything.  I really liked this aztec top, because I have been seeing more sweaters, not tops.  This fits snug in the arms, but very relaxed in the body.  The deals last for an extended period of time, and do not ship until that time is over so shipping does take longer.  They do have cheap shipping, and the more you buy, the cheaper it is.  I will definitely be making more purchases with them.

17.  Burgundy Statement Necklace & Bracelet - NY & CO.
I love statement jewelry, especially statement necklaces!  I had nothing like this or in this color.  When I found it, they were having a buy one get one free.  I love jewelry like this, because you can have on an old pair of jeans and a simple t-shirt, turtleneck, or white blouse, and you immediately look stylish and pulled together.

Review - Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

Of course, the launch of a new Urban Decay Naked Palette is always a big deal, but I have to admit, whether it's music, movies, television, makeup, etc.....I'm never one to jump on the bandwagon for something that is so hyped up.  I'm the opposite actually, I want nothing to do with it.  So, this is actually my VERY FIRST Naked Palette I have bought or used.  With the first Naked, I thought - I have so many colors similar to that palette, so I don't need it.  Naked 2, I wasn't interested in those colors.  Naked 3 has a completely different look.  It is in no way similar to the first two.  This palette has shades of neutral rose gold colors.  With the first half, the colors are lighter and softer.  The second half has much deeper shades.  With all these colors, the possible looks you can create are endless!  Here are 3 looks that I have created in the past few weeks.

Here are swatches of all the colors.  12 shades in all.  The finishes include matte, satin, shimmer, and glitter.

Some have more pigmentation than others, but most are quite good.  You have a good variety depending on whether you want a soft day look, a really smokey night out look, or somewhere in between.  Another thing I want to mention, I have a warm undertone to my skin.  Pink or Rose shades are a cool undertone, and I think these work on my skin just fine.  I like the look and don't find that I look washed out.

The creamy, blendable, long lasting formula of these shadows is very good.  You can definitely tell that they are of high quality.  I own a lot more drugstore makeup than high end, but I do think this palette is worth the $52 price tag.  I bought this at Sephora, with my $15 beauty insider coupon they sent, so it actually ended up being $37.  I love this formula so much, that now I actually want the first naked palette.  With the warm bronzy colors, I think it will be great for my warm skin tone.

If you have been on the fence about this palette, I hope this review helps!

Recipe Of The Week - Crockpot Breakfast Casserole

I have so much going on Christmas morning, that I know I won't be able to make breakfast as well.  So, after some searching, I thought this would be a good recipe to put together late Christmas Eve.

Ingredients:

-  12 - 15 Breakfast Sausage Links (regular, maple, or turkey)

-  12 eggs

-  1 cup millk

-  Salt & Pepper to taste

-  1 pkg. (2 lbs.) Potatoes O' Brien

-  1 Tomato, diced

-  2 cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded

Brown sausage in a skillet.  Cook thoroughly, and set aside.

In a large bowl, beat eggs in a large bowl.  Add milk and salt and pepper.

Stir in cut up sausage, potatoes o'brien, tomato, and cheddar cheese.

Spray crockpot with cooking spray, and pour in egg mixture.

Cook on low for 6 - 8 hours.  If using an oval crockpot, cooking time may be closer to 6 hours.

*Optional:  Top with salsa, sour cream, or ketchup.

Sweater Weather Tag!

This tag has been making it's way around youtube for awhile now, so I thought I would do mine before fall is over.  Only a few days left, can you believe it?!

1.  What is your favorite candle scent?
My favorite candle scent for any season is any linen or cotton scent.  I love fresh scents.  In the fall, I will buy some cinnamon scents and vanilla scents as well.

2.  Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate?
It would typically be a toss between coffee and tea, but I have been drinking way more tea lately.  I'm lucky if I even have a cup of coffee a day.  I have been drinking chai tea and green tea the most.

3.  What is the best fall memory you have?
My best fall memories revolve around my husband.  We met in October and married in October, which is also my favorite month.  This past October, I took a trip with my mom to NYC for five days.  Best vacation ever, and a great new fall memory!!

4.  Which makeup trend do you prefer....dark lips or winged liner?
I do like dark lips, but I don't wear them too often, because my husband seriously loathes them!  I could shave my head and he would be absolutely fine, but if I wear a dark lip, it is just way more than he can handle.  He has definitely gotten more opinionated about fashion, makeup, and hair over the years, but he has always hated dark lips.  Even if he liked dark lips, winged liner would still be my favorite.  I love me a winged liner!!!

5.  Best fragrance for fall?
I have a few....Ciara by Revlon, I mentioned this in my November purchases.  I've been wearing it since I was 14!  The other two that I found this year that I absolutely love are Fame by Lady Gaga, and Killer Queen by Katy Perry.

6.  Favorite Thanksgiving food?
I'm not a fan of turkey.  We don't even make it at my house, for any holiday.  So, I would have to say dressing/stuffing is my favorite.

7.  What is Autumn weather like where you live?
I am in Ohio, and fall can vary drastically from year to year.  This year has been much colder than normal.  We have been averaging 20 degrees below normal, and we have had quite a bit of snow already.  It's ok with me though, I love fall and winter!!

8.  Most worn sweater?
That would have to be my 2 new aztec sweaters that my mom got me for my birthday.  They are both from Forever 21.  They are warm and comfy, but not smothering.  I love the Aztec trend!

9.  Must have nail polish for the fall?  I love deep burgundy in the fall, so I would have to say Wet N Wild Megalast - Haze Of Love.

10.  Football games or jumping in leaf piles?
Neither.  Ohio State Football is huge here, but I'm just completely and totally uninterested.  I haven't jumped in a pile of leaves since I was little.  It seems like a lot of work to rake them all just to scatter them again.  Ain't Nobody got time for that!!! :)

11. Skinny jeans or leggings?
I'm not a big fan of either, but I would have to say leggings, because I will wear them under a dress or  long sweater once in a blue moon.

12.  Combat boots or Uggs?
Definitely Uggs.  Combat boots are not and never have been for me.  Here in Ohio, Uggs are actually needed, not just for style's sake, but very practical.

13.  Pumpkin Spice is it worth the hype?
Absolutely!  It is the only drink from Starbucks that I even like!!  I wait all year for it, otherwise when I go to Starbucks, I'm just getting coffee.  Boring, I know!!  I also love the Coffee Mate Pumpkin Spice creamer.

14.  Favorite fall TV show?
I am not a television connoisseur like a lot of people, but I love true crime and legal/cop dramas.  My favorites would have to be Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, The Mentalist, and 48 Hours.

15.  What song really gets you into the fall spirit?
I would have to say Kings Of Leon, the entire Only By The Night album.  I first found this album in the fall, and I listened to it nonstop.  It just sounds and feels like fall to me.  Every year when the weather turns cooler, I start playing it.  The song 'I Want You' even talks about "a hayride at 5".

I hope everyone has a great weekend, and finishes up their last minute Christmas shopping.  I haven't even started, so my husband and I will spend all of tomorrow shopping.  We are gonna make a date out of it, and use it as time for just the two of us :)

Health & Beauty Q & A

1.  Can I get some of your motivation to take care of myself?  I'm by no means fat, but need to get into shape.  I have never had to diet or exercise to be skinny.  So, I'm an idiot when it comes to that.  Any helpful hints?

I follow the Tosca Reno Eat Clean Diet.  Motivation?  I can't give you that.  All I can say is it is very hard.  You have to be conscience of your decisions everyday, and you have to really want it, because it is work.  It is so worth it though!  As far as exercise, I would try to get a workout buddy, who is dedicated.  Someone who will push you to show up, and you push her as well.  Try different things to see what you like.  Try classes, and weight training.  If you find something you like and is fun, you are more likely to stick with it.

2.  I have a question that you may be able to help me answer.  I've been trying to find a good moisturizer for my face, that is good for someone who is prone to breakouts.  Preferrably something that isn't too expensive.  Do you have any suggestions for me?

Any moisturizer that is oil free will be good for you.  Try neutrogena, clean and clear and Aveeno. To treat acne, get a product with salicylic acid or benzoyal peroxide.  That should really help!

3.  What is your favorite foundation and powder?  I want to make a switch after many, many loyal years at Merle Norman.  I'm looking for something that stays put during the day, and won't get oily.

I have oily skin as well.  For a high end foundation, I would try Estee Lauder Double Wear.  For drugstore, I love Revlon Colorstay.  They have one for oily skin.  Right now, I am using Garnier BB Cream for oily/combo skin.  I like it as well.  I really like it as well.  It has good coverage and staying power for a BB Cream.  It is light to medium coverage.  The foundations are medium to full coverage.  All of them have a satin to matte finish.  I have been using Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.  I really like it.  I hope this helps!

*I recently did a review on this foundation

4.  How do you keep your eyeliner from running?

My favorite eyeliner is Rimmel Scandaleyes, which is a waterproof liner.  This does not budge on me.  Not even in the waterline!  If you don't have a waterproof eyeliner, my best advice is to smudge the same color shadow over the liner.  Liner has a creamy consistency, so putting the shadow helps lock it in place.  When lining the waterline, it will move throughout the day, unless it is waterproof.

5.  I read your blog all the time, was wanting to know what the best product was for a smokey eye.  With holiday parties approaching, I was just wanting some advice.  Thank you!

Thanks for reading!  I wouldn't say there is one particular product, it is more technique.  Use a dark brown or black base on your lid.  I like Maybelline Color Tattoos.  You could also use liner, and blend it out.  Use your darkest shadow over that.  When you line the eye, also smudge your darkest shadow over the liner.  Use a medium color in the crease, and lightest color under the brow bone.  Finish the look with false lashes or several coats of black mascara.

Thank You to everyone for your questions.  I hope you are having a great week!

-XOXO Monique

Face Of The Day - Using The Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

This was my first time using the Naked 3 Palette.  We had a casual family Christmas party to attend.  I also decided to wear my extensions.  These are new, and my first time putting them in once they were layered.  I'll will review them in an upcoming post soon.  Once I use the Naked 3 Palette a bit more, I will review it as well.

Products Used

Face:
-  NYX Pore Filler
-  Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation - Pebble
-  Revlon Photoready Concealer - Light/Medium
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Sport Eraser - Illuminater
-  Tarte Mineral Bronzer - Hotel Heiress
Cover Girl Cheekers Blush - Golden Pink
- Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner - East End Snob
- NYX Lip Smacking Fun Colors - 565

Eyes:
-Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
- Trick (Inner Third of Lid)
- Dust (Center of Lid)
- Liar (Outer Third of Lid)
- Nooner (Crease) As a transition color
- Factory (Crease, from outer to mid crease)
- Darkside (Outer Crease)
- Strange (Brow Bone Highlight & Inner Corner)
- L'Oreal Infallible The Super Slim Liquid Liner - Black
- L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara - Black
- Ardell Self Adhesive Lashes - 101S

I did use more colors than normal, but I wanted to try as many as possible, and I really liked the way the look turned out.  A double ended brush is included with the palette, and I used it for a lot of the application.

I patted Trick on the inner third of the lid, because this shadow has a chunkier glitter.  I didn't want to have a lot of fall out, and I didn't.  I used the smaller end of the brush.  Dust went in the center of the lid, using the same technique.  Liar went to the outer third, same technique as well.

For the crease, I used the larger end of the brush to apply Nooner.  This went on the crease from the outer to the inner.  This was my transition color, the color them blends the lines from the lid to the crease for a smooth flawless transition.  This keeps you from having the look of hard lines.  Next, I applied Factory using my E.L.F. blending brush to the crease, from the outer to midway in. I applied Darkside on my crease with my Sephora Pencil Smudge Brush.  I applied this to the outer corner only, and then used my blending brush to soften it out.  Then, I applied Strange under my brow bone and inner corner.  On the bottom lash line, I applied Darkside with my smudge brush from the outer corner mid way in.  I used Dust on the inner part of the bottom lash line.

For my top liner, I used The Super Slim Liquid Liner to draw on a cat eye.  I curled my lashes, and applied one coat of the Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara.  Finally, I applied my Ardell False Lashes.

After applying pore filler, foundation, and concealers, I contoured my face with the Tarte Mineral Bronzer.  Then, I applied Blush to the apples of my cheeks.  I lined my lips, and applied lipstick and Voila!

Before & After - Makeup and Eyebrows

Either I am really brave or really crazy!!  Maybe I am a little of both, but I wanted to show myself with no makeup at all, and a complete makeup look.  Makeup is art, and your face is the canvas.  It's just about perfecting your art, and trying new things.  I love being able to make myself look different, depending on how I feel, my outfit, or occasion.  Don't take it too seriously and just have fun experimenting.  You can always wash it off if you don't like it.  But when a look comes together, and you can walk out into the world feeling more confident and beautiful, what a great feeling!  Your whole presence can change.  People will respond to you differently, and wouldn't it be great if you could help someone else feel more confident about themselves, by sharing some of the tips and techniques that you have learned?

People don't always think of the big picture.  You think - it's makeup.  Can it really make that much of a difference in the big picture??  It seems so insignificant and irrelevant.  My answer is YES!  Think of it this way.....Say you have a job interview.  You spend the time putting yourself together, hair, makeup, professional outfit, etc.  Because you took the time, you feel better and more confident with your appearance.  Because of that confidence, you walk into that interview self assured, and feeling good about yourself.  You walk differently, carry yourself differently, and make more eye contact.  Your interviewer picks up on that and feels your confidence coming through.  You end up getting a better opportunity, with a bigger salary and benefits, and you are able to provide a better life for yourself and family.  It may seem far fetched, but it is true, and I have seen the transformation that women make when they feel confident and take the time to care for themselves.

The picture on the left was taken straight out of the shower.  The only thing I have on is Live Love Dew Sheer Dew Face Moisturizer and Live Love Dew Lip Dew.  I always wear these products under my makeup.

I also wanted to talk eyebrows.  Many women neglect them, and I think it's a shame.  They are the frame to your picture.  They make a HUGE difference.  I pluck mine into the shape I want.  I do this once a week, which only takes a few minutes.  I don't have an extensive brow routine.  I use Maybelline Define A Brow to fill them in, and give them a better shape.  Then, I brush Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara through them just to set them.  This keeps them in place the entire day.  If you have thicker, more unruly brows, you may need a heavier brow gel to keep them in place.

In these pictures, I did my right brow only, just so you could see the difference it makes, side by side. It really finishes the look, and pulls it together.

So, if you don't usually do much with your brows, start grooming and filling in a bit.  I think you will see how much it changes your look.  When filling in, use a pencil that is one shade lighter than your hair color, if you have dark hair, and one shade darker if you have light hair. Use small, short strokes.  Follow the line of your brows.  I like to start at the bottom, where the arch is, and work my way to the tail.  I extend the tail just a little.  I like to have my tail end at the same level that my brow starts.  But that's just me.  That goes with my natural shape.  Everyones is different.  Mine are just more rounded.  It takes a little practice to get your own technique and routine, but once you have one, you'll feel naked without doing it.
Thanks so much for reading!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend! - XOXO Monique

Review - Live Love Dew "Dew" Serum

The newest product from Live Love Dew, is a face and hair serum, known as just "Dew".  This potent serum is made from pure, natural and essential oils, that are blended to create an anti-aging affect.  Use the serum alone or combined with Live Love Dew's Sheer or Intense Dew Face creams, on your face, neck, and decolletage.  This versatile serum can also be used on your hair.  Put a small amount on the hair shaft, from the middle to the ends while wet, to combat frizz and add shine.  Then, blow dry and style as usual.

I have been using Dew for two weeks now, and I have to say, it is one of my very favorite Live Love Dew products!  I have put it on my face, after my cleansing routine, every single night.  In the morning, I wake up with my skin looking hydrated and fresh.  It improves my texture and my skin appears more supple.  I even use the serum around my eyes and on my eyelids.  I have no irritation, around my sensitive eyes, and love the smooth look in the morning.  Over time, the serum can also help fade age or hyper pigmentation spots.  In the summer, my skin is very oily.  I will probably mix the Dew with my Dew Face Creams.  In the winter, my skin is quite normal, so I have not had to mix it, and I don't wake up oily at all.  When I apply it to my straight hair, it works much like an Argan Oil.  Only a small amount is needed for the healthy looking, frizz free shine.

Like all Live Love Dew products, the Dew is natural.  No fragrance, parabens, formaldehyde, alcohol, or dye.  It is perfect for those with allergies or skin conditions, such as myself.

Right now, Dew is being offered at an introductory price!!   They are also having a great holiday sale!  Spend $25 or more, and receive a 20% discount, AND with every $30 you spend, receive an EXTRA $15 worth of product, included in your order!!  Use code MERRYSALE20 when you shop online at www.livelovedew.com.  This sale goes through Sunday, December 15th till 11:59 pm.  If you are placing an order from out of the Grove City area, you will need to place it by the 15th as well, to insure your products arrive before Christmas.  If you are local, please place your order by the 18th.

Their products can also be found locally at DeJa Vu Boutique, Eternity Gift & Books at The Naz, Simple Vague at Tuttle Mall and Polaris Fashion Place,  Celebrate Local at Easton, Human Touch Day Spa, and Salon C & Day Spa.  They are also available for home parties.  If you have any questions or would like to schedule a home party, contact them at 614-378-5232 or 614-313-3697.  Also, feel free to email at crissy@livelovedew.com

Review - Estee Lauder Double Wear

I was running low on my foundation, and was thinking about what I would buy next.  It was my birthday and I went to the mall with my mom, with the intention on getting Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation.  We were color matched by the makeup artist, and quickly found our colors.

I have been wearing the foundation for almost a week now, and I absolutely love it!  It has a medium to full buildable coverage, and a very natural, semi matte finish.  The staying power is incredible.  It claims to have a 15 hour staying power.  It honestly looks the same at the end of the day, as it does as the beginning.  It feels so lightweight on the skin, like you have nothing on your face.  It is fragrance free, oil free, dermatologist tested, and non acnegenic.  I have combination/oily skin, though it is quite normal during the winter months.  My mom has dry skin all year around.  It works great for both of our skin types.  Also, we both usually powder with our foundation.  We both have found that we no longer need to do that.

I love this formula, and wouldn't change a thing about it.  The only thing I wish was different is the packaging.  I really wish that it came with a pump.  It is a very traditional foundation bottle.  I find that it can get a little messy if you aren't careful.  Luckily, I do my makeup in a robe or nightgown,  Otherwise, I would get it on my clothes, which would be very frustrating.

They offer many colors, I counted 31 on their website, so I am sure you will find a color to match.  It contains 1 fluid ounce, which is the standard for foundation.  It retails for $37.  It is definitely more than my drugstore favorites, but I do think it is worth the extra money, if you have the room in your budget.  I have never used the words "holy grail", but for me this is the best foundation that I have used to date.

Health Tip Of The Week - How To Avoid Holiday Weight Gain

So, the holiday's are here and everyone is busy trying to get everything done.  I do not go to a lot of holiday parties, but I know many of you do.  Between the parties, extra food at work, Christmas shopping, and more time commitments, it is very hard to keep on your routine.  So, here are a few things that I have found help me when my routine or time commitments change.

1.  Look at the week ahead and figure out where you can fit your workouts in.  It doesn't matter if it is a different day or time than usual.  It also doesn't matter if you don't have a full hour to devote to your workout.  30 minutes is a lot better than 0 minutes!

2.  Before heading out to a holiday party or event, have a healthy snack or small meal at home.  Don't walk in starved from going too long without eating, otherwise you will be consuming so many high calorie, high fat, sugar and salt laced foods.  If you aren't starving, you will make much better choices.

3.  Drink water!  That is always a tip of mine before eating any meal or snack.  Our brains cannot distinguish between hunger and thirst.  So, always drink water before eating.  Sometimes you will find that you were just thirsty.

4.  If you are bringing a dish to a party, take something healthy.  Few people bring a healthy option to a party.  Some people won't appreciate it, but some really will.  There are always plenty of crappy options, so at least there will be one good one.

5. Limit your alcohol intake.  There are so many calories in alcoholic drinks, not to mention the sugars as well!  Go in with the mindset of limiting your beverages.  Stick with one or two, and you won't have the guilt or hangover in the morning!

6.  Watch those food pushers!!  We all know them, and we all have them.  You know what I'm talking about.  Food does NOT equal love.  Just because Aunt Sally made her award winning apple pie, and Uncle Tom made his world renowned pumpkin roll, does not mean you have to have a piece of every dessert on the table!  Saying no or having a small bite instead of a piece is not disrespectful nor does it mean that you don't love them.  It means you are respecting yourself by not giving into the pressure of eating just to be nice.  I've been there and done that.  I've even eaten high calorie foods that I don't even like!!  Afterwards I feel horrible and have to work out extra hard to burn those calories.  Believe me, it isn't worth it!

7.  Just say NO!  You can't do everything for everyone all the time.  Do what you can without stretching yourself so thin that you and your family end up being the ones paying for it.  The stress can lead to over eating, and the time commitment will keep you from your workouts.  Again, not worth it!

8.  Keep packing your lunch and bringing healthy snacks to work.  I was always amazed by how much junk food was circulating around the office on the holidays.  It just seems to be a constant, day in and day out.  Pack a healthy lunch and snacks to keep you full and on track.  Avoid the areas of the office with the junk, if possible.

The holidays can be hard for many of us.  The bottom line...be mindful of your choices and commitments.  Don't overextend yourself, and don't put yourself last on the to do list.  You are important, and you are a priority.  I hope all of you have a wonderful, healthy, stress free holiday filled with family and love.
                  -XOXO  MONIQUE

Birthday FOTD - Day To Night

This day was my birthday.  I spent the day with my mom.  We did shopping and lunch, and for the evening we went to a concert.  The only change I made was my lipstick, but it gave me a completely different look.
Day Look

Products Used

NYX - Pore Filler

Revlon Color Stay Creme Foundation

Revlon Photo Ready Concealer - Light/Medium

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

Sonia Kashuk Blush - Sunset

NYX Blush - Terra Cotta

Tarte Mineral Bronzer - Hotel Heiress

Maybelline Color Tattoo - Bad To The Bronze (Lid)

The Balm Nude Tude Palette - Seductive (Lid)

The Balm Nude Tude Palette - Sultry (Crease and Lower Lash Line)

The Balm Nude Tude Palette - Sleek (Outer & Inner Corner)

Sigma Highlighter Pencil - Matte (Browbone)

Jordana 12 Hour Liner - Brown (Top Lash Line Only)

L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara - Black

Ardell Self Adhesive Lashes - 101S

Milani Lipstick - Nude Creme

L'Oreal Le Gloss - Rosy Demeanor

This was my first time using self adhesive lashes.  Because you don't have to work with glue, which can get messy, they were super easy to apply.  If you are new to lashes or always seem to have trouble, try these.  I think you will find them easier to work with.  I bought mine at Kroger.

Night Look

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner - Red Diva

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - Cherries In The Snow

It was so easy to go from a day look to a night look.  I kept the eyes neutral, a coral/neutral cheek, and just changed out my lipstick.  When you have a full day ahead of you, think about what you will be wearing, and how you can change your look going into the evening.  A statement lip is always a good bet.  Especially, when you are going out straight from work and don't have time to go home.  A red lip dresses everything up.  If you would like to see a full review of this lipstick, it is with my November Purchases and Review Post.  I hope everyone has a great weekend!
