Blue eyes are a recessive trait, so if you were blessed with them, you should definitely play them up! Only 8 - 10% of the world's population has them. Despite what many people think, blue shadow is NOT the best way to play them up. Blue shadow tends to take away from blue eyes. People will notice your shadow, before they notice your eyes. If you love blue, opt for a blue liner. Most blue shades will be complementary, including turquoise. If you simply cannot do without blue shadow, and have to have it in your life, pair one shade with other neutrals on the eyes. Do not do an entire blue eye look. You will run the risk of looking like Mimi, from The Drew Carey Show! Now that we have covered that misconception, let's move on to what will bring out those baby blues!
Metallics - Warm metallics will look beautiful against your cool colored eye. Try shades of copper, gold, and rust. Any shade with an orange undertone, will make blue eyes pop more than any other color. A purple metallic will also be beautiful. You could even pair it with one of the metallic neutrals, for a fun night out!
Neutral - When you crave a natural, neutral eye. particularly for daytime, choose gray, khaki, chocolate, and carmel. These colors will enhance your eyes without overpowering, especially if you use more matte shades. Bronze and brown liners will give you the look you desire. Black tends to be a little harsh on a blue eye, so if you do use it, use it sparingly. A black smokey eye will never do you justice, so opt for your chocolate browns and golds, when doing a smokey look.
Best Choices - Because orange is opposite of blue on the color wheel, any shade with orange will work best. Colors such as copper, rust, sunset, burnt orange, coral, and peach. Most blue eyed beauties are surprised to hear this, but it is true! Two celebrities who love to play up their blue eyes with these colors, are Cameron Diaz and Scarlett Johansson. So, next time you want your eyes front and center, try these shades....You won't be disappointed!
